Fish for Thought: ‘The End of the Line’ screened in Warsaw

Published on April 6, 2010

FISH, along with OCEAN2012 and WWF, recently organised and hosted a screening of the fisheries documentary, “The End of the Line”, followed by a panel discussion between representatives from different sectors of the fishing debate.

The film screening intended to raise awareness and disseminate information regarding the dire plight of fisheries and the continuous destruction of the marine environment to a Polish audience. Government representatives, politicians, scientists, journalists, fishermen and NGO representatives were amongst those gathered to participate. Against this backdrop is the 2012 reform of the CFP, which provides the first opportunity for Polish decision-makers to influence the outcome of the policy.

Following the screening, a panel discussion ensued featuring Charles Clover, author of the End of the Line book which inspired the film, Radek Gawlik, President of Eko-Unia, Steve Karnicki, Science Director at MIR, Marcin Rucinski, vice-director of the Polish Fisheries department, and Krzysztof Stanuch of the Polish Fisheries Chamber.
