Published on March 22, 2013

This week FISH hosted the third workshop on Capacity Building for Polish NGOs. This workshop focused on the Integration of the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) with wider marine issues: The Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD) and the Baltic Sea Action Plan (BSAP).

The two day workshop which took place in Warsaw, Poland on March 20th and 21st, 2013 was attended by seven Polish NGOs. Participants were introduced to the MSFD, its implementation, and an explanation of Good Environmental Status (GES) was also given. The BSAP was also explained as well as its ecological objectives. The integration and linkage of the BSAP and the MSFD to the CFP and EUSBSR was also discussed and presented during the workshop.

The training series consists of six interactive workshops covering topics that are relevant for Polish NGOs to increase their political influence when working towards sustainable fisheries.  Each of the workshop sessions was developed and established by direct input from Polish NGOs at an earlier workshop on February 23rd, 2012.
