On Wednesday 9th November, a discussion workshop will be held (hosted by Chris Davies) on behalf of the Fish for the Future group, with contributions from Norwegian fisheries experts to explain the Norwegian experience of policies intended to ban discarding, highlighting the strengths and weakness of such polices and opening up the discussion as to how such experience could help to shape the proposals set forth by the Commission. The aim of the meeting will be to discuss in detail the Commission's recently published proposal for a long-term management plan for salmon

One- day fisheries science seminar,  “New Challenges and Opportunities facing Marine Fisheries Science", will be held in London the 31^st of October. It has just been confirmed that Ms. Damanaki will be attending and taking part in this workshop. Look below for more details of the seminar, including an agenda for the day.

The event organized by Fish for the Future on October 25-27, 2011, will feature a computer game developed by scientists at the University of Kiel that aims to visualize the common pool problem, the focal issue of the reform of the Common Fisheries Policy.

Organized by the European Aquaculture Society, and hosted by The Federation of Greek Maricultures and the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research, Aquaculture Europe 2011 will be held in Rhodos, Greece between 18 and 21 October. 'Sessions will address vital questions affecting the development of Mediterranean aquaculture over the next decade, with reviews of the importance of aquaculture in EU food production; the sustainability of aquaculture feeds and the implementation of selective breeding strategies in aquaculture. A review of current EU-funded research programmes will highlight their relevance to the current and future production practices'.
