The conference is organised by the Thünen Institute, a German research institute under the Ministry of Food & Agriculture.

At present the workshop plans to focus on three questions:

    * Which tasks of fisheries management should be in the responsibility of the fishing industry?

    * Which decisions of fisheries management should be taken at which level (EU, regional sea, national, local)?

    * Which institutions and decision-making processes are appropriate for the regional sea level?

The advisory council will aim to finalise its advice to the Commission regarding fishing opportunities in the Baltic Sea and management tools to recover stocks below biomass reference points for the fisheries in 2019. Agenda

It is expected that topics discussed will include the salmon management plan and TACs for 2019 as all stocks reach their maximum sustainable yield deadline. It will be the final meeting under the Danish Presidency with Sweden taking over in July.

The conference is organised by the Polish government.

The working group will aim to prepare advice regarding fishing opportunities in the Baltic Sea and management tools to recover stocks below biomass reference points for the fisheries in 2019. Agenda

At this meeting ICES scientists will draft their advice as part of the process for managing Baltic fish stocks and setting quotas for 2019.
