HELCOM FISH M eel, online, 13^th February 2024, 09:00-15:00 CET The focal item of the Session is to have a discussion on the migration routes and the key river systems. Should you be interested in observing this meeting, please contact HELCOM Secretariat via email at: petra.kaaria@helcom.fi  

The background for this dedicated session is based on the discussions held at the second informal consultation session of WG Fish (IC WG FISH 2-2023) which supported that the planning of the execution of work related to the BSAP Action B17 be included in a separate dedicated session of EG Fish-M focused on European eel, if possible, arranged jointly or with participation by other ongoing initiatives on eel. IC WG FISH 2-2023 also invited the Chair of EG Fish-M and the Secretariat to plan and arrange such a dedicated session.

The 14th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS COP14) is held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, from 12 to 17 February 2024.

Only members of the Advisory Councils are invited to take part in the meeting. We are happy to announce that the morning meeting will be fully devoted to an exchange of views with the Director General followed by a full afternoon to exchange on new Control Regulation. The meeting will be hybrid, giving the opportunity to AC Chairs and Vice-Chairs or members selected to represent the AC to be present in the room, and to all members to follow the meeting remotely."

The 2024 Meeting between ICES and Advisory Councils and other observers (MIACO) will take place Thursday 18th (13:00) – Friday 19th (12:00) January 2024 in the ICES Secretariat in Copenhagen. The draft agenda for MIACO 2024 (hybrid meeting of physical and online participation) will be available in the beginning of December. Please inform the Secretariat (advice@ices.dk) about your participation in the MIACO meeting.

Thursday, 7 December 2023, 10 am CET, Zoom  This special edition updates statistics and figures on the status and management of fisheries in the region and includes, for the first time, an overview of the aquaculture sector in Mediterranean and Black Sea countries. It provides useful and reliable data as an essential source of information on fisheries and aquaculture in the region and a key tool to support decision-making and monitor progress towards the goals set by the GFCM. The event will consist of a brief presentation of key data and findings, with comments from select speakers from the region, followed by a Q&A session open to all participants.   Interpretation will be provided in Arabic, English, French, and Spanish.   Please share this invitation with anyone who may be interested and do not hesitate to contact the GFCM Secretariat for any further information or technical requests.
