FishSec is organising the first public discussion on BALTFISH, the regional management body set up during the Swedish EU Presidency of 2009. With representatives from governments in the Baltic Sea region, the European Commission, fishing industry, NGOs and academia the seminar will present an opportunity for participants to outline a vision for how fisheries management can be integrated within a wider context and facilitate the implementation of ecosystem based fisheries management. The meeting will focus on a discussion of the Baltic multiannual management plan and the Technical Measures Framework. It will take place in Polish.

Ulrike Rodust (S&D, DE) is hosting a lunch briefing in the European Parliament, room P3C050, from 13:00-15:00. It is organised along with the Pew Charitable Trusts and Tim Essington.

It is expected that final decisions regarding Baltic quotas are taken at this meeting, prior to the Agrifish Council.

At the October Council, Baltic TACs for 2017 will be decided.
