The  OCEAN2012 steering group member Pew is holding a two-day workshop on fleet capacity assessment under a future CFP at the PEW office.  The workshop is for experts and the objective is to establish a methodology for the assessment of fleet capacity in order to identify and assess the extent of any overcapacity and its type and the most adequate policy responses.    

ComFish, an EU project focused on communication in fisheries, will be hosting a broad range of stakeholders at their preparatory meeting. The meeting objectives are to: Bring together various fisheries stakeholders to identify challenges and issues related to “mixed fisheries” including management. Suggest possible solutions and the necessary steps to undertake in order to overcome these challenges both now and in the future. Discover whether all the stakeholders are aware of pertinent scientific information that could enlighten parts of the discussions.

Discussions concerning the CFP reform will take place, with the Council finalising its position on key issues ahead of the opening of trialogue negotiations on 18 March.

The meeting will take place in the Danish parliament.

Agenda forthcoming. An exchange of views of amendments to the Cadec (EPP, FR) report on the CFP European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) will take place.

The IUU Forum is organised by Chatham House. The meeting will take place at 10 St James's Square, London, SW1Y 4LE, United Kingdom.
